A) National Athletic Development Coordinator (Coach)

Job Description
Singapore Swimming Association is seeking the services of a highly skilled and motivated person in Strength and Conditioning to join the Swimming High Performance Team (HPT).  Working principally with Singapore Swimming Association at the National Training Centre (NTC), the position will work closely with the Junior, Youth and Olympic class swimmers.

As a S&C Coach, you will have diverse and direct responsibilities with high calibre or elite level coaches and athletes and coordinating tasks with lower level or beginner level coaches and athletes. The main service delivery will be to provide high quality, sport specific, and evidence based services to the athletes as identified by the coaches. The role includes but is not limited to the following:
1)     The planning and delivery of strength and conditioning services, scientific profiling of athletes, and the utilisation of current scientific knowledge in servicing and in education of athletes and coaches, to ensure that best practice services are provided to the national athletes and coaches.
 
2)     The S&C Coach will be hands on in coach and athlete education dedicated to the development of the complete robust swimming athlete from the grassroots to elite level, helping to close the gap in sport specific and general knowledge that enhances capability in our sport for athletes to thrive in the international competitive environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES 
Reporting jointly to the Head Coach and Performance Director at Singapore Swimming Association and also to the Head of S&C Department at SSI, you will be responsible for all matters and concerns pertaining to strength and conditioning for Singapore Swimming Association and community. You are expected to have a strong background in the application of progressive, best practice sports science services to individual athletes and coaches in an elite sporting environment. 

You will conduct all strength and conditioning services for Singapore Swimming Association’s National junior-level athletes through to the senior-level and/or Olympic level representatives as well as integrate National Programming within our club and developmental pathways. You will also assist athletes to maximise their performance potential and facilitate the coaches in improving the competitiveness of the athletes and teams in the international sporting environment. The major activities of this position will be:
 
1)     Needs assessments for development of support proposals to swimming programs
2)     Review, modify, implement and monitor swimming-specific S&C programs for teams and individual athletes, providing regular updates on athletes’ development to both SSA, SSI and National Program FSP team.
3)     Plan in consultation with coaches and SSA/SSI S&C team yearly periodised,
sports-specific S&C programs
4)     Perform individualised gym and field-based testing
5)     Individualised gym and field-based testing.
6)     Report and interpret testing results timely to coaches and athletes, and assist coaches to make practical use of the results.
7)     Advice on optimal training protocols to enhance athletes’ physiological adaptations and sport performance.
8)     Report and consult with sport science specialists and athletic development staff where necessary in holistic athlete care focused toward high performance outcomes.
9)     Manage and maintain the gym at the National Training Centre
10)  Conduct practical coach and athlete education clinics in current S&C and Athletic Development methodology to support the Associations drive to upskill swim coaches, support staff and athletes enhancing capability within the community.
 
Educational Qualifications and Experience:
●       Postgraduate Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Sciences or related field
●       Internationally recognized professional certification or qualification in S&C (e.g., Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) Certificate, Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or an equivalent qualification)
●       Minimum 3 years of practical strength and conditioning experience in the elite sport environment working closely with athletes and coaches in the planning and delivery of strength and conditioning services
●       A good background knowledge and understanding of other sports science disciplines such as physiology, nutrition, psychology and biomechanics.
●       High level competitive swimming experience is an advantage

Reporting Lines
This position is a joint hire between Singapore Sport Institute (SSI) and Singapore Swimming Association (SSA). Operationally, this embedded role into SSA will consist of supporting the delivery of SSA’s High Performance Strategy (manage the appropriate identification and prioritisation of science support) and working closely with the Institutes of Sport (SSI and NYSI) to ensure seamless integration and delivery of appropriate support services for identified SSA athletes.
 
The specific deliverables (roles and responsibilities) will be jointly decided by the aforementioned two agencies (SSI and SSA). This is to ensure the role contributes to, as well as tap on the larger High Performance Sports (HPS) System in Singapore. The
performance appraisal of this role will be conducted by the aforementioned two agencies
(SSI and SSA) based on the specific deliverables. As such, the position will be co-reporting to the Performance Director from SSA and the S&C Team Lead from SSI.

 
B) National Physiotherapy Coordinator (Swimming)

1)     Provide strategic leadership and direction to enhance and optimize swimming specific physiotherapy application within Singapore’s competitive swimming community; NTC, Clubs, SSP and the associated HPS Medical system.
2)     Plan in consultation with SSA HP coaches, SSI Physiotherapy Lead and FSP team yearly periodized sport-specific support programming
3)     Perform physiotherapy treatments for the SSA SpexScholars & NTC swimmers
4)     Perform sport & swimming specific movement screening (SSSMS) and analysis
5)     Perform swimming specific muscular-skeletal screening (SSMSS) and analysis
6)     Develop and implement stand-alone mobility sessions:
7)     Develop and implement stand-alone activation and stability sessions:
8)     Perform rehabilitation: Coordinated with S&C coaches and/or sports physicians (depends on type of injury)
9)     Design warm up, cool down and triggering routines for the individual swimmers
10)  Cultivate and expand the quantity & quality of the Physiotherapy professionals and their involvement in Singapore’s swimming programs.
11)  Development & maintenance of a physiotherapy support network for swimming
12)  Report and consult with sport science specialists and athletic development staff where necessary in holistic athlete care focused toward high performance outcomes.
13)  Continually assess the developmental and HP physiotherapy program
14)  Deliver continuing education modules for Singapore’s the top swim coaches, physiotherapy service providers and athletes to support the Associations drive to upskill and enhance capability within the community.
 
Educational Qualifications and Experience:
1)      Relevant Postgraduate Degree in Physiotherapy, as recognized by the Allied Health Professions Council
2)      Current certification and registration with Allied Health Professions Council
3)      Minimum 3 years of practical physiotherapy experience in the elite sport environment working closely with athletes and coaches is preferred.
4)      A good background knowledge and understanding of other sports science disciplines such as physiology, nutrition, psychology and biomechanics.
5)      High level competitive swimming experience is an advantage
