Swim queen Tao Li has brought glory to Singapore once again. This time, the butterfly specialist came in third in the Women’s 100m Butterfly Finals at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, on Tuesday night. Tao clocked 59.08 sec to win bronze.
The 24-year-old finished behind winner Chen Xinyi from China, who set a new Asian Games record of 56.61 sec, and Chen’s compatriot, Lu Ying (58.45 sec). In total, Tao has bagged one silver and one bronze medal for Team Singapore in her individual butterfly events.
“It is an awesome meet for me and I’m happy to win a silver and bronze for Singapore,” said Tao Li.
Tao’s Coach, Sergio Lopez, was extremely excited over Tao’s performance at the Games. “It was a wonderful achievement for Tao Li and I’m happy to be part of her success”
Over at the Men’s 400m Freestyle, Danny Yeo finished in 6th place with a timing of 3:55.39. This comes after the 24-year-old achieved a personal best of 1:49.48 during the 4x200m Freestyle Relay on Monday night, which saw the quartet of Yeo, Pang Sheng Jun, Teo Zhen Ren and Clement Lim swimming to a national record of 7:25.46.
The Women’s 4x200m Freestyle team consisting of Lynette Lim, Amanda Lim, Quah Ting Wen and Rachel Tseng also put on a spectacular performance as they finished in 5th place with a timing of 8:12.09.
